Ho Chi Minh City is set to host the 2026 Vietnam National Games from November 20 to December 12, 2026. This major multi-sport event will feature 973 events across 48 sports, bringing together athletes from 36 provinces and cities nationwide. The opening and closing ceremonies are expected to take place at Thống Nhất Stadium.
Local high schools and colleges are actively preparing their athletes for the Games. Institutions like Saigon South International School (SSIS) and the International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) are enhancing their sports programs to support student participation. SSIS, known for its comprehensive athletics program, offers a variety of sports and is a member of the Saigon International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC). Similarly, ISHCMC has celebrated strong performances in recent SISAC seasons, reflecting the city’s commitment to nurturing young athletic talent.
Community sports organizations are also contributing to the city’s athletic development. The Vietnam Sports & Social Club (VSSC) provides training and social leagues for both youth and adults, fostering a culture of sportsmanship and community engagement.
