Ho Chi Minh City is set to host the 10th Vietnam National Games from November 20 to December 12, 2026. This marks the second time the city will host the event, having previously done so in 1990. The Games will feature 973 events across 48 sports, with participation from 36 delegations representing provinces and cities nationwide. The opening and closing ceremonies are expected to take place at Thống Nhất Stadium.
In preparation for the Games, local high schools and universities are enhancing their sports programs. The Ho Chi Minh City University of Education’s Practical High School recently inaugurated the M Sports Field, a multi-purpose facility designed to meet international standards. This venue allows students and teachers to engage in various sports, including pickleball, which is gaining popularity in the city.
International schools are also contributing to the city’s vibrant sports scene. The British International School Ho Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC) has been actively participating in the Saigon International Schools Athletic Conference (SISAC), competing in sports such as basketball, cross country, football, swimming, table tennis, and volleyball. These activities not only promote physical health but also foster teamwork and sportsmanship among students.
As the 2026 Vietnam National Games approach, Ho Chi Minh City continues to invest in its sports infrastructure and programs, aiming to provide a platform for athletes to showcase their talents and inspire the community.
